Who are you interning under, what is your role, and what is something that you are most excited to be working on?

I am interning under Laura Mynahan as an interior design intern. I have interned here before in 2020, in the spring. I was only here from January to March due to Covid, but I am happy to be back. Recently, I worked closely with Senior Strategy and Design Consultant Bob Turner on HSFCU’s instore “Build a Branch” exercise. Additionally, I am working internally on a remodel of the outdoor patio, so as to provide a better entertaiment space for prospects and customers.

How has your experience changed being back? How has that transition been?

It’s been great. I am more in tune with what is going on and more experienced, especially since I am back in the same position.

Have you interned with us before, if not, have you interned elsewhere?

I have. I started last year. This was my first co-op actually; I was nervous, but I am happy to be back as I feel I am learning even more this year.

Where do you go to school? What year are you, and what do you study?

I am an Architect major at Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, MA. I am technically still a junior, but I will be a Senior graduating in 2022. Here I have loved learning about the interior design aspect. I would love to find a blend of the two that is uniquely my own to get my name out there, but for now I am planning on becoming an architect!

What drew you to your field?

During high school, especially at the age of 16/17 I really enjoyed visual art and would draw sketch and paint. I always wanted to do that for a living, but in the back of my mind I knew I wasn’t planning on being an artist full time. My dad suggested that I go into architecture. At first, I was very confused as to why he said that, but I considered it and ended up really liking it. Being here and working as an interior design intern has allowed me to explore how the two disciplines work together which has been really cool.

How did you hear about Element?

Last year there was a career fair at my college that the Element team goes to. At first, I went for the cups filled with Hershey kisses! I ended up giving them my resume and they contacted me for a position for interior design intern.

How did your first day/week go?

My week was great. Things were fast paced when I arrived as there was a bunch of projects going on, but it was really nice to see everyone again and meet some new people.

Ok now some fun questions!

Any pets?

No pets right now. I used to! But I would really like to get a bunny.

Coffee, Tea, Other?

Honestly, I really like Earl Grey with sugar and milk.

Give me one additional fun fact about you!

I really love Baroque Architecture and would love to see it in person in some lesser-known areas such as Bulgaria. I also really like sketching, particularly faces, focusing on the eyes.
