Who are you interning under, what do they have you do, and out of all your responsibilities which is your favorite/most interesting?

I’m interning under Laura, Interior Design Manager. Laura has me work on a variety of projects with diverse responsibilities to help expand my education and experience. My responsibilities span from pulling finishes to working on packages (furniture, bid, close-out, etc.), but I would have to say my favorite is working on floorplans in various software or coming up with creative solutions for spaces.

Where do/did you go to school and what subject do/did you major in?

I just graduated from Endicott College in Beverly, MA with a BFA in Interior Architecture. I’m returning there in the fall to complete my Masters in IA as well.

How did you first become interested in your field of study?

I’ve always had a passion for design, but it wasn’t until I started touring colleges that I realized it could be my career path. I love many aspects of both interior design and architecture which made it difficult to decide which path I should follow. However, when I found Endicott College, my decision was made easy, as their Interior Architecture program perfectly merged the two careers.

Have you interned here before, if not, have you interned elsewhere?

I have interned here twice before! I first joined during the summer before my junior year and then came back again last summer (before my senior year). I have loved growing up here, with the nurturing guidance of everyone here.

Do you have any pets?

I have always loved being around animals and thankfully was able to grow up constantly around them (we used to have horses, chickens, hamsters, etc.)! Currently, my family has four rescue dogs running around our house, and I actually hope to foster dogs when I’m older.

If you could go to dinner with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be? Why?

I think I would love to go to dinner with one of my favorite artists so I could thank them for how much their music has done for me, and to get to know the people I listen to so much. It would be a tough decision between Calum Scott, Ed Sheeran, Harry Styles, or (my favorite band) We Three.

If you could travel to anywhere in the world, where would you go, why, and who would you take with you?

If I could travel anywhere in the world I would probably go to Alaska and take my dad because it’s always been his dream. I’m not particularly one for the cold, so wouldn’t be ecstatic about the weather but it would be great to see him in a place he’s always wanted to go. I also have always wanted to see the Northern Lights so I think that would be a great opportunity. In the fall of my junior year, I studied abroad in Florence, Italy and was able to visit nearly all my “dream places” so it would be nice to be able to help him fulfil seeing his dream.

What is your favorite app and why?

My favorite app is probably Snapchat, which is probably a boring answer, but I really love that it allows be to keep in contact with my friends from high school and college when I’m not physically with them. I like that you don’t have to be having a constant conversation but can still feel like you’re up to date with them. Many of my friends get to be pretty busy so it can be easy to fall out of touch, but I feel like social media is helpful in keeping us connected even with restraints from time or distance.

What is on your bucket list?

I haven’t given too much thought to my “bucket list”, I really just want the generic house, family, and job that I love for my future. I have traveled many places, which I would like to do more of, but I also just want to enjoy the milestones as they come and enjoy the present I’m in. Aside from the basic, I would like to foster dogs, travel more, and learn to play guitar. There’s not much more I want than that!

Fall, winter, spring, or summer? Why?

Definitely summer because I’m always cold! While I do love the feeling of curling up by the fire or snuggled under a blanket in the cold months, I still would rather be too hot then too cold. However, I do like aspects of all seasons, which is why I want to stay in a place (like New England) where I can truly experience all four seasons.

THANKS FOR THE INTERVIEW and your hard work, Brooke!
